The ‘flexible working revolution’ has made significant leaps this week, with more organisations embracing the trend.  The Civil Service was the latest to make the jump for a more flexible and mobile way of working, adopting an approach  that will allow thousands of Civil Servants to work from home.

The workplace of the future – Technology’s creation

It’s no shock that in the last decade, the constant evolution of technology has been the driving force of change in the workplace. As technology advances, so do the trends in how and where we work. From mobile technology to cloud computing, the boundaries of what we define as a ‘workspace’ are ever changing.

The sky’s the limit for office lighting

There are many ways to increase comfort, well-being and productivity in the office – ergonomic furniture, adjustable workstations, temperature control, operable windows… a luminous virtual open sky suspended above the office…

Yes, that’s right. Engineers in Germany have designed a luminous virtual sky lighting system that brings the feeling of well-being we experience outdoors, inside the office. The ceiling uses a light altering effect imitating passing clouds to create a more pleasant, uplifting working environment.

Latest alternative work environments are off the rails

Alternative working environments are becoming increasingly popular, and in the current age of flexibility, the limitations of how and where we work are expanding rapidly.

Just this week, plans  to develop a new environment to cater for the nomadic worker have been announced, but this time it’s not in the comfort of a café or in a high street walk in workspace – the latest is on platform one at Paddington Station.
